Smart Tile
We are all familiar with traditional tiles. We see them in almost every bathroom and some kitchens. Few of us have tried to install traditional tiles because we understand that installation requires considerable skill and produces considerable mess. So what is the alternative if we like tiles but lack the skills necessary to install them?
Smart tiles look like traditional tiles but are much easier to install. They even have similar advantages, being quite a water resistant and easy to clean with a simple wipe with a damp cloth.
A smart tile installation is a great way to renovate a room. This is great for adding trim to a kitchen or even covering a whole wall surface. The Smart tile sheet can be put up in an hour to two with only basic skills and basic tools like a knife and a straight edge. Almost any clean, flat surface is fine for smart tiles.
- Clean the surface to remove all grease. Use sugar soap if there is a lot of grime.
- You will want to make sure the tiles are straight, so either align them with the edge of a wall or a shelf or draw a straight pencil line with a spirit-level ruler.
- The tile sheets will simply stick to the surface once the backing is removed. Make sure to match the pattern of each tile to the one next to it.
- You will probably need to cut the tiles when you reach a corner. This can be done with a sharp knife. Measure the space where you intend to put the tile sheet, and cut on a flat surface.
Smart Tiles on their own are enough to change the whole look of a room. But you can go further and combine them with a change of paint colour for an even more extreme transformation.
